The Quest for Inner Peace
Like surfers on ocean waves, we spend our lives riding the unpredictable highs and lows of circumstance. Often times, these circumstances are beyond our control. Karma rewards us, but we are also indebted to it in order to maintain balance. No matter how turbulent the waves get, we can remain afloat and allow even the highest surf to carry us in the forward direction rather than making us crash into the depths of the sea.

The key is to create peace at the centre point of your own inner reality. Do this, and everything in your life will change for the better and happiness will follow.

You can’t attain peace passively just by surrendering to it. The journey into inner peace is a dynamic one and requires developing the ability to hold onto faith, hope, and joy no matter what life throws at you.

Inner peace changes how we experience life in a turbulent sea, and teaches us how to ride each wave safely to shore.

Self-transformation through Meditation
Meditation is the quest to obtain the highest level of awareness. A profound sense of peace and clarity encircles you when the mind is calm, silent, free from distraction and fully alert. By practicing meditation regularly, you can transform the mind. You can develop concentration, emotional positivity and ultimately help yourself see the true nature of things.

We are part of a greater reality, and through meditation you begin to reveal your place in this greater existence. You learn to move past the everyday egoic self and begin to get in touch with your purpose, your beliefs, your motivation, your goals, your place in the universe, and essentially a more important “you”. This is what we call your own higher power.

Building this relationship with your own higher power is the foundation of self-transformation. It isn’t as simple as just affirming a change in yourself. You need to learn how to cultivate the mind and heart, and also learn to open yourself to external factors in your life that can help your transformation.

Channeling progression through your meditation practice and keeping the door of possibility open creates a flow of energy that is the keystone of self-transformation.

Learning to Meditate
On the one hand, it’s fairly simple: If you can breathe, you can meditate! However, the first time you try to meditate it can feel like an impossible task.

It is important to understand the science and the art behind it. When you learn to meditate, you begin to understand how to calm the mind, soothe the restless feelings of the heart, focus and concentrate your attention, and essentially discover how to deal with the ever-wandering monkey-mind.

It’s a process.

The journey to inner peace doesn’t travel along a straight road leading to a destination. Rather, it follows a spiral that gradually circles into your own centre. Every time you step inside the spiral, a part of you is transformed.

Naturally, the more you practice meditation the more effective it gets. Every session of the Journey to Inner Peace retreat will teach you a skill that you can carry into your own practice long after the event is over.

Ancient Practices for the Modern Day
The meditation for self-realisation that you will learn and practice on the Journey to Inner Peace retreat is of ancient origin. The expression, however, is entirely modern. We’ve taken the tried and tested ancient practices and adapted them for an age of television, radio, computers, airplane travel and other time and space annihilators.

You will learn the progressive stages of meditation: relaxation, concentration, absorption, and expansion into the light, peace, and joy of your own being.

With multiple instructors we can personalize the teaching, so whether you are a beginner or a long-time meditator, you will gain something of lasting value.

The Right Atmosphere
Nothing lightens the load or shortens the path like good companions. Joy is doubled and sorrow is halved when shared. We are all in this together!

Since each of us has a unique karma to unwind, we sometimes feel we are the only ones who have suffered or struggled or rejoiced in a particular way. But then we discover we are not alone. The path we are walking, many others have walked before us. Their successes and failures help us understand our own journey, and help us move forward.

There is a power generated when people meditate together, especially when we come together repeatedly as we will on the Journey to Inner Peace retreat. Through the weeks you will notice that the power builds, and the experience of each person deepens.
