Kriya Yoga is a meditation technique: 4 week course

Are you meditating with apps but you’re not sure if you’re making progress? Try this course in meditation with step by step techniques to help you establish a consistent practice.

Both online and in person courses available. Join from anywhere in NZ or the world, as long as you have an internet connection.

  • Online – Start anytime (Includes personal support with private sessions over Zoom ) OR come to us and learn in person. Next 4 week course dates:
  • Tuesdays 4 February – 25 February 2025 7.00 – 8.30pm (In person class at Narrows Retreat)
  • Tuesdays 29 April – 20 May2025 7.00 – 8.30pm (In person class at Narrows Retreat)

Anyone with sincere commitment to personal transformation can learn Kriya Yoga.

This technique will help you calm the restless mind and stop the reactive process.

The result is greater inner peace, lightness and joy.

Here’s what you’ll learn:

  • You will learn 2 breathing techniques that prepare you for meditation
  • You will receive a sacred mantra that helps you increase your concentration and calm the heart.
  • You will learn ways to expand your awareness and experience positive mental states
  • You’ll learn how to apply the principles of meditation into your daily life

You’ll receive plenty of inspiration and encouragement to put the techniques into practice

At the end of each class you will take with you a routine to practise during the week.

My classes are informal and I share very generously from my many years of experience with meditation on the path of Kriya Yoga.

The course material is based on the teachings of Paramhansa Yogananda, author of Autobiography of a Yogi.

This course is open to anyone who would like to learn to meditate, regardless of religious or spiritual orientation.

It will help you establish a deep and consistent practice.

Group sessions: $145 for 4 weeks payable at the start of the course. You’ll receive a PDF of the textbook Lessons in Meditation by Jyotish Novak.

Meet your teacher

Nurtured by her grandfather’s spiritual example, Kavita’s lifelong interest in spirituality deepened after encountering Paramhansa Yogananda’s Autobiography of a Yogi in her youth. She embraced the path of Kriya Yoga, an ancient meditation technique that uses breath control (pranayama) and energy control to awaken the body’s subtle energies and cultivate spiritual growth. For 30 years, she has been a dedicated meditator. Inspired to share these transformative teachings, she left a career as a chartered accountant to found Ananda in New Zealand. Through Kriya Yoga, Kavita offers an inspiring example of spiritual practice integrated with a loving family life with two grown children.

Julian is a meditation teacher based in Rotorua, where he shares the practice of meditation with people from all walks of life, both in Rotorua and nearby towns and cities. A former top athlete in New Zealand, Julian now supports individuals, including elite athletes, in their personal and professional journeys. While he understands the thrill of winning medals, he knows that true fulfillment comes from cultivating a rich and balanced inner life.
